Projects

This page lists selected work relevant to ontology engineering, semantic interoperability, knowledge representation, and reusable semantic artifacts. It is not a full project history.

The selection emphasizes:

  • Ontology-driven conceptual modeling
  • Foundational ontology and OWL-based representation
  • Applied ontology and modeling-language work
  • Semantic traceability, mappings, vocabularies, and FAIR-aligned semantic resources

OntoUML/UFO Catalog

  • Type: Research infrastructure and model catalog
  • Status: Public catalog and associated publications
  • Role: Research contributor and catalog curator
  • Technical focus: OntoUML, UFO, FAIR model publication, model metadata, empirical conceptual-model research

The OntoUML/UFO Catalog is a public catalog of OntoUML and UFO models for ontology-driven conceptual modeling research. My work around the catalog connects conceptual modeling, FAIR-aligned publication practices, model metadata, and empirical analysis of conceptual-model structures.

Foundational-rule inference over OWL ontologies

  • Type: Research line
  • Status: Published research
  • Role: Author and research contributor
  • Technical focus: OWL, foundational ontology, ontological categories, rule-based inference, knowledge representation

This work investigates how foundational ontology principles can support the inference of ontological categories for OWL classes. It connects machine-processable ontologies with stronger ontological distinctions, reducing the gap between Semantic Web implementation and foundational analysis.

Resilience modeling with ontological foundations

  • Type: Applied ontology and modeling-language work
  • Status: Published research and public ontology artifacts
  • Role: Research contributor
  • Technical focus: Resilience, reference ontology, OntoUML, ontology-driven domain-specific modeling language

This work uses ontological analysis to clarify resilience-related concepts and support the specification and evaluation of resilience scenarios in complex systems. It connects foundational analysis with applied modeling and domain-specific modeling-language design.

Health-RI semantic interoperability work

  • Type: Professional semantic-interoperability work
  • Status: Public materials available; see the linked initiative documentation for current status
  • Role: Senior Metadata and Semantics Specialist
  • Technical focus: Semantic traceability, ontology-based modeling, mappings, vocabularies, semantic governance, FAIR-aligned publication

At Health-RI, my work has included semantic interoperability, ontology-based modeling, mappings, and FAIR-aligned semantic resources for health-data infrastructure. This work is listed here as one professional application context for broader ontology-engineering and knowledge-engineering methods.
